You’ll find easy access to nearby shopping, restaurants, and the spectacular oceanfront of Virginia Beach.
All traditional-aged (17-24) first-year freshmen taking classes on campus who live outside of a 25-mile radius of Regent campus are required to live on campus in Regent Commons. Campus housing is available from mid-August to early May. Students beginning classes in the middle of a semester (Sessions B & D) may not move into student housing during this time; they may work with the Office of Residence Life for alternative solutions.

Phase II offers furnished two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartments (max occupancy: four residents) for returning undergraduates (ages 17-24). Graduate students (ages 17-29) and non-traditional undergraduates (ages 25-29) have their own bedrooms in furnished apartments with two-bedroom, two-bathroom or three-bedroom, two-bathroom configurations.
The Regent Village offers the convenience of living near campus and the atmosphere of a more traditional neighborhood, plus spacious floor plans and multiple outdoor recreational areas. Meticulously maintained, these spacious apartments are fully furnished.
A free shuttle operates between Regent Village and the main campus. Other amenities include balconies/porches, a student lounge, a free laundry facility, basketball and volleyball courts, 24-hour security from the Regent University Police Department (RUPD), refrigerator/freezer, stove/oven, dishwasher, sink, and internet — all included in housing fees.
Requirement
All first-time freshmen who live outside a 25-mile radius of campus and intend to study on campus full-time are required to live on campus. Our goal is to ensure that all first-year freshmen receive priority housing in the Commons, which offers fully furnished apartments just steps from the heart of campus.
Deadline
To receive priority housing in the Commons residence halls, students must have the following steps completed by May 1.
- Accept your offer of admission to Regent University by submitting the Enrollment Agreement & Deposit.
- Submit a housing application on StarRez.
- Submit your housing deposit during either of the steps above.
Appeals
Students may formally appeal to live off campus, and exceptions will normally be granted for the following reasons:
- The student lives with a parent(s) or guardian(s) within 25 miles of Regent University. These students will be considered commuter students.
- The student is active-duty military. A copy of military ID, activation papers, or a letter from a recruiter will be required.
- The student is attending Regent on a part-time basis, defined as less than 12 credit hours a semester, or attending online only.
- The student is married, engaged, or pregnant. A copy of a marriage certificate, wedding announcement, or medical documentation will be required.
- The student has financial limitations. If the student is independent and receives no support from parents, or in the event of employment loss by a supporting parent, a letter from the parent stating such will be required. Other financial considerations must include a signed release permitting Regent’s Student Services office to review the student’s financial aid status and a written budget comparing costs, including utilities, cable, internet, telephone, and rent.
- The student has an existing medical condition that would be aggravated if the student lived in university housing. A letter from a physician verifying the condition will be required.
- The student has another compelling reason to reside off campus. A detailed written explanation will be required.
All appeals must be requested in writing by submitting the University Housing Appeal Form, along with all supporting documents, to the Academic Advising Office no later than May 1. Students will be notified within 10 business days whether the appeal has been approved or denied, or if more information is needed. Submission of an appeal does NOT release the student from his or her obligations to the university, nor are all appeals automatically approved. Please plan accordingly.

Rental property owners are responsible for reporting information fairly and accurately, and Regent University cannot guarantee the completeness or accuracy of such information. Inclusion of any property or rental unit on this website does not constitute, and shall not be construed or reported as (1) an endorsement or approval by Regent University of any particular roommate, or of the landlord, its properties, or its business practices, or (2) a warranty or representation by Regent University as to the quality, safety, or other features of such property and/or its owners or management agent(s). Regent University expressly disclaims any and all responsibility for any problems that may arise with regard to such property, or rental units, or roommate postings, or with regard to disputes between landlords and tenants, or between roommates, concerning such property or rental units. At Regent, safety is a priority. That’s why we have our own Regent University Police Department (RUPD), dedicated to protecting students, faculty, and staff. These armed law enforcement officers monitor the campus and possess the same powers under the law as city police officers.
Virginia Beach is known for its high level of safety, ranking among the Top 10 Safest Cities Over 200,000 by Law Street Media. Our campus police provide an added level of protection by offering:
- Campus-wide video surveillance and vehicle and foot patrols — 24 hours a day, 365 days a year
- On-campus emergency call boxes and house telephones, located throughout campus, which immediately connect you to the dispatch center where officers are ready to assist
- Security escorts to your car and dorm, if requested
- Emergency and weather alerts through Regent’s text and email notification system
- Confidentiality through Regent’s Anonymous Crime Report system
Regent Safe App
The free Regent Safe app enables prompt communication between the campus community and RUPD. It offers three major features, backed by a robust geo-mapping feature.
- Mobile BlueLight – Tap the button to simultaneously call and send your location to university police, who will receive your location in real time.
- Virtual Walk Home – Use this feature to let RUPD know where you're traveling, so they can keep an eye on you. University police will be able to monitor your progress to your end destination.
- Friend Walk – Send your real-time location to a contact or local police with an emergency button in case of crisis.
The Regent Safe app by RAVE also includes a Chat with University Police and Report a Tip feature, as well as links to safety awareness tips, emergency procedures, and other campus safety resources.

Housing agreements for non-traditional undergraduate and graduate students are issued semester by semester, automatically renewing until the student submits a Notice to Vacate Form.

Students are then assigned rooms based on their position on the list, with roommate groups being assigned together according to the earliest slot in the group, provided space is available for all roommates; if not, they will still be housed together, but may be split into different rooms depending on availability.
We prefer to communicate with students by email or through their StarRez account, but please inform us if another method would be more appropriate for them.
