Note from the Editors
February 26, 2020

The Journal of Practical Consulting is changing the name and purpose of the journal from Journal of Practical Consulting (JPC) to the Journal of Practical Consulting & Coaching. The revised purpose of the journal is:

The Journal of Practical Consulting & Coaching (JPCC) is a technical-refereed publication designed to provide an online forum for dialogue, dissemination, exploration, and examination of innovative insights, practical applications, and emerging trends, tools, and techniques in the professions of consulting and coaching. The multidisciplinary nature of the JPCC empowers consulting and coaching practitioners, leaders, educators, and other professionals to network across disciplines and gain a well-rounded perspective that promotes success in the consulting and coaching environments of today and of the future.

We are also changing the writing style from APA to Chicago Manual of Style (CMOS). Chicago style aligns more strongly with the professional writing of consultants and coaches and keeps the scholarly approach to the content.

We are keeping the professional blind peer review process for accepting articles.

While editor of the JCP (Diane Wiater), I've chosen to include Coaching articles in most of the issues published over the past several years. It seems right to make the name and purpose change to directly include Coaching. This in no way diminishes the promotion of the Consulting profession.

One drawback in directly adding coaching to the journal name is coaching and consulting are separate and unique professions, and I wouldn't want to give the impression they are the same or interchangeable by sharing the journal. While consulting and coaching share skill sets, the intention and use of those skill sets is much different for each profession. None the less, these are much needed professional partners when talking about individual and organizational improvement, effectiveness, change, and transformation.

The over-arching goal of the JPCC is to give needed academic and practical voice to understanding and promoting the models, practices, and benefits of these advancing professions.

Another change to the JCPP comes in the editorial responsibilities. Joining as editorial partners and bringing their expertise and professional passion are Drs. Kathleen Cabler and Rob Freeborough.
