Regent University Enactus Selected Among Top 3 at the Action with Africa Challenge
VIRGINIA BEACH, VA (July 8, 2024) – Regent Enactus’ recent service project has earned a spot in the top 3 at the international Action with Africa Challenge—the only United States university to earn this early-stage distinction.
Back in May, Regent Enactus submitted Project ZAM: Zambian Aquaculture Ministry for consideration. ZAM is a collaborative effort of Regent Enactus team and MASY Ministries in Zambia. The purpose of this project is to establish a self-sustaining community in the Mungule village in Zambia through tilapia fish farming.
“As a team, we are both humbled and excited to be recognized on the international level for our project ZAM,” said Olga Moseley, Faculty Advisor for Regent’s Enactus team. “It is an honor to witness the groundbreaking concepts that these students generate when integrating innovation with a heart for service.”
Regent students actively worked with Pastor Mark Young from MASY Ministries to help him overcome supply chain challenges facing his tilapia farm. The team came up with an initial design for a solar powered fish nursery that will eliminate MASY’s dependency on unreliable fingerling supply and local power grid.
In the upcoming academic year, the team is planning to develop a blueprint for a functioning algae farm that will further the sustainability of the fish farm by providing an eco-friendly renewable fish food source.
