Regent University Celebrates the 2024 Year in Review
VIRGINIA BEACH, VA (Dec. 30, 2024) – In 2024, Regent University experienced historic growth, launched exciting new initiatives, and received numerous accolades and awards. Here are some highlights from the 2024 year in review:
- #1 in Virginia for 12 Years: U.S. News & World Report ranked Regent the #1 Online Bachelor’s in Virginia – for the 12th year in a row.
- #2 Best Military Friendly® School: Regent University was ranked the #2 Military Friendly® School for academic year 2024-25.
- New Degree Programs: Regent University announced five new degree programs including a D.Min. in Biblical and Renewal Preaching; a B.Ed. in Secondary Science; a B.M. in Classical Voice; a B.M. in Contemporary Voice; and a B.M. in Songwriting.
- Record-Breaking Enrollment Growth: In Fall 2024, Regent University welcomed its largest freshman class – a 20% increase since last fall. This academic year, Regent has the largest student body in school history.
- Royals Rise – The Campaign for Regent: Regent University launched a $50 million capital campaign to build a 31-acre sports complex including NCAA facilities for basketball, volleyball, baseball, softball, soccer, tennis, track & field, and more. Regent unveiled a new mascot, Rex the Royal, and inked a partnership with NBA star Jonathan Isaac.
- New Israel Institute: The Robertson School of Government launched the Israel Institute to provide the nation’s leading Biblical studies-enriched education on the history, culture, society, and politics of contemporary Israel.
- Regent Law Achieves Highest U.S. News Ranking: Regent Law earned its highest ranking in school history in U.S. News & World Report’s 2024-2025 Best Law Schools ranking. The Princeton Review rated Regent Law among the top 10 law schools nationally for teaching quality and professor accessibility. The National Jurist’s preLaw Magazine recognized Regent Law as the 3rd best-value private law school in the United States.
- School of Business & Leadership Ranks Among Top 50: The Princeton Review ranked Regent among the nation’s Top 50 graduate entrepreneurship programs and ranked Regent the #34 best online MBA in the nation.
- Jason Miyares Addresses Class of 2024: Nearly 2,300 graduates received degrees at Commencement on May 4, 2024. Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares was the keynote speaker.
- Regent Royals Explore NCAA Division III and Join C2C: The National Collegiate Athletic Association approved Regent’s application for an exploratory year of membership in Division III. Regent will join the Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference in the 2025-26 academic year.
- Leadership Changes: Dr. William L. Hathaway was named Provost of Regent University and Dr. Simon Tarr was named Dean of the School of Communication and the Arts.
- Honors College Renovation: The Honors College unveiled newly renovated facilities that integrate cutting-edge technology with dynamic study space.
- Regent Students Provide Disaster Relief: Hundreds of Regent University students joined Operation Blessing in packing over 57,000 meals for those impacted by Hurricane Helene, and NROTC students Austin Graves and Ernest Park flew disaster relief supplies to western North Carolina.
- Royals Launch Men’s Volleyball and Baseball: Regent Athletics announced the addition of men’s volleyball beginning in the 2024-25 season, and baseball beginning in the 2025-26 season.
