Regent University Celebrates the 2023 Year in Review
VIRGINIA BEACH, VA (Dec. 27, 2023) – In 2023, Regent University received numerous accolades and awards, launched landmark initiatives, and experienced a historic leadership transition. Here are just a few highlights from the 2023 year in review.
- Virginia General Assembly Honors Regent University: The Virginia General Assembly honored Regent University with commending resolution HJR 585 at the Virginia State Capitol in Richmond, Virginia.
- #1 in Virginia for 11 Years: U.S. News & World Report ranked Regent the #1 Online Bachelor’s in Virginia – for the 11th year in a row.
- Outpouring of Spiritual Renewal: In February, as revival swept across college campuses, Regent University students, faculty, and staff experienced a miraculous move of God.
- New Degree Programs: Regent University announced several new degree programs, including a Ph.D. in Business; a Doctor of Business Administration; a Ph.D. in Government; a Post-Master’s DNP in Administration and Leadership; a M.Div. in Biblical Literature & Languages; and a B.S. in Financial Management.
- Celebrating the Class of 2023: Regent awarded degrees to nearly 2,500 graduates at Commencement on May 6, 2023. Ambassador Nikki R. Haley was the keynote speaker.
- Honoring the Life and Legacy of Dr. Robertson: Regent University mourned the loss of founder, chancellor & CEO, Dr. M.G. “Pat” Robertson who passed away on June 8, 2023 at 93 years old. A celebration of life service was held in Shaw Chapel on June 19, 2023.
- Gordon Robertson Appointed Chancellor of Regent University: In July, the Regent University Board of Trustees named Gordon Robertson the Chancellor of Regent University, succeeding his late father, Dr. M.G. “Pat” Robertson. Regent honored Chancellor Gordon Robertson at his investiture ceremony on October 20, 2023.
- #5 Best Military Friendly® School: Regent University was ranked #5 by Military Friendly® Schools for the academic year 2023-24.
- Regent Law Fights Human Trafficking: Regent Law’s Center for Global Justice launched a clinic to help victims of human trafficking.
- New State-of-the-Art Piano Lab: Regent University’s School of Communication and the Arts unveiled its cutting-edge piano lab.
- Regent Athletics to Pursue NCAA Division III: Regent announced its pursuit of membership in the NCAA, beginning with an exploratory phase during the 2024-25 academic year.
- Regent Students Help with Disaster Relief: Hundreds of Regent University students joined Operation Blessing in providing survival essentials to victims of Hurricane Idalia.
- NCCAA South Regional Champions: The Regent University Women’s Volleyball team made history as the 2023 South Regional Champions.
- National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense: The National Security Agency designated Regent University as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense through the 2028 academic year.
