Incoming Freshman Class Has the Highest Average GPA in Regent University History
VIRGINIA BEACH, VA (Aug. 25, 2022) – This month, Regent University welcomed 434 freshmen and transfer students to campus in Virginia Beach. These students have an average GPA of 3.67 – the highest average GPA on record.
“We are delighted to welcome the incoming class of 2026 to Regent University,” said William L. Hathaway, Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs. “These students are among the best and brightest in the nation, and we look forward to equipping them with the knowledge, character, and skills to change the world.”
The incoming freshman cohort represents students from 38 states – ranging from Alaska to Maine and Arizona to Minnesota – and seven countries, including Jamaica, India, Hungary, Singapore, Guatemala, Trinidad & Tobago, and Albania.
The freshman class also includes 78 new students in The Honors College – the largest incoming cohort of Honors College freshmen. These students hold an average high school GPA of 3.98.
Regent University enrolls more than 13,000 students annually in its award-winning online and on-campus programs. Regent’s undergraduate programs in Virginia Beach have experienced record growth in recent years. The Fall 2022 incoming freshman cohort is nearly 10% larger than the Fall 2021 cohort.
