Steve Bowersox, Ph.D.

Bio

Dr. Steve Bowersox was the Chair of the Worship Leadership & Production Technology Departments at the University of Mobile. He directed three worship Ensembles: Ignite Worship, Exit 13, the UM Chapel Band. He also oversees 880, a state-of-the-art studio and record label on the UM Campus. In addition to his academic responsibilities, he served as Executive Pastor of Worship at Dauphin Way Baptist Church. He is the Founder and President of the Bowersox Institute of Music and Worship 1st, a non-profit organization dedicated to the development of the musician in worship. He is the founding Executive Director of Integrity Music’s Worship International and Seminars for Worship, and was the Executive Pastor of Worship at First Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Florida for 7 years and the Worship Leader at Christ the Redeemer Church in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida for over 16 years.

Steve holds degrees in music, education, business, and ministry, and has authored the Worship Musician’s Theory Course, Vocal Aerobics: A Fitness Program for Your Voice, ‘MIDI’anites Redeemed, and the Worship Leaders Survival Kit. His diverse musical abilities and expertise have afforded him valuable experience as a producer, arranger, worship leader, and studio musician. Steve has toured with several prominent musicians such as Dolly Parton, Barbara Mandrell, Don Moen, Ron Kenoly, Paul Baloche, Lincoln Brewster and many more. He is proficient in vocals, choral, wind instruments, guitar, bass, electronic keyboards and MIDI.

He and his amazing wife, Barbie, have both lost their previous spouses to cancer. Between them they have seven children, including two sets of twins.
