Brian Baugus, Ph.D.

Bio

Professor Baugus is originally from Virginia but spent most of his formative years in Maryland. He came to faith at an early age and grew up in a believing home. Dr. Baugus graduated from McDaniel College with a B.A. in economics and then went on to Vanderbilt University where he earned an MBA in finance. He then spent five year in the private sector in consulting and banking before becoming a senior budget analyst for the Maryland State Legislature where he also spent five years. He also started to do some adjunct teaching and found that he liked it and was well received by the students. This inspired him to pursue his doctorate at George Mason University and enter academia full time.
Professor Baugus has taught at schools in Maryland, Tennessee and Virginia before coming to Regent University in 2012. He has had the opportunity to teach or lecture in Chile, Malawi, Uganda and Ghana as well as on several campuses in the United States. He has an active informal consulting practice advising think tank leaders in several sub-Saharan African nations and sits on the board of the Britain based Network for a Free Society that works to bring economic education to poverty-stricken areas around the world. Professor Baugus is married and has four children and numerous pets. He and his family are active in their church where he teaches an adult Sunday School class, serves as financial secretary and church clerk.
