Erin K. DeBoer, J.D.

Bio

Erin K. DeBoer serves as an assistant professor at Regent University School of Law, where she has taught Appellate Advocacy, Advanced Legal Research and Writing, and Legal Analysis, Research, and Writing. In the 2025–26 academic year, DeBoer is assuming the role of director of the law school’s legal writing program.

DeBoer has a diverse background in academia, appellate law, and civil litigation. She twice served as law clerk to the Honorable S. Bernard Goodwyn in the Supreme Court of Virginia. DeBoer has also worked as an appellate attorney, demonstrating a keen eye for researching novel legal issues and crafting appellate arguments. She collaborated with trial attorneys during the appellate process, overseeing procedural requirements, writing briefs, and presenting oral arguments. DeBoer’s appellate practice primarily focused on civil appeals before the Supreme Court of Virginia and the Court of Appeals of Virginia.

DeBoer received a B.A. in history, summa cum laude, from Hillsdale College. She received her J.D., summa cum laude, from Regent University School of Law. At Regent, DeBoer served as the editor of the Regent University Law Review Symposium. She is also a Blackstone Fellow.
