Cheryl A. Gould, Ed.D.
Bio
Dr. Cheryl A. Gould serves as the department chair for the College of Arts & Sciences’ Teacher Education department since 2018. She rose to the rank of associate professor in 2021. She also served as the director of student teaching from 2014 to 2018. She first served Regent University in 2006 as director of student services and later as associate campus director at Regent’s previous Washington, D.C. campus.
While in the public school sector, Gould provided leadership to 55 teachers across Henrico County in all facets of curriculum, instruction, assessment and acquisition of resources to ensure quality instruction of nearly 7,000 students enrolled annually in Family and Consumer Sciences programs. From 1995 to 2005, she served as a secondary classroom teacher. She earned her Doctor of Education, Educational Policy, Planning & Leadership from The College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia.
Her research interests include Teacher Effectiveness & Evaluation; Pre-Service Teacher Support, Evaluation & Flourishing. She believes teacher effects on student growth and achievement are powerful and long lasting. She says, “Christian educators have a responsibility to help students achieve their full purpose as whole individuals created in the image of God. We must recognize students’ unique and miraculous intellectual capabilities that may be expanded and refined through education.”
She and her husband have three children, a daughter-in-law, and two sons-in-law, and two grandchildren. They consider Fayetteville, Arkansas, their hometown but have lived in many places as a 25-year military family. Her passion is equipping teachers with the professional and spiritual tools to meet the challenges currently facing students and schools.
