Tidewater Winds Concert Band “Harmonically Yours” – Free Summer Concert

Join us for two free summer concerts in the Shaw Chapel. The Tidewater Winds Concert Band will bring two different free summer concerts to our location during their July concert series held in various locations throughout Hampton Roads.
For week 1 of the free summer concert series, they will be at the Shaw Chapel on Monday, July 8th, with “Harmonically Yours” featuring guest artist George Miklas. If you have ever played the harmonica, or just enjoy listening to good music, this concert is for you! The Winds will revisit the musical diary of your life performing new and nostalgic music to spark fond memories in all of us. Dr. George Miklas joins the Winds featuring music in the style of the Harmonicats including Peg of My Heart, Orange Blossom Special, and Sousa’s Harmonica Wizard March!
On Monday, July 22nd for the start of week 3, the theme will be “A Picture’s Worth a Thousand Words” featuring regional sketch artists. Whether it’s the stroke of a pen on paper, or a brush stroke on canvas, music and art touch the soul. Music and art are man’s gift to express feelings and emotions without words. Sometimes the arts heal or help us celebrate joy, and sometimes deal with sorrow … this program will explore the full extent of human emotions as we listen and watch art in all its beauty.
