Israel Symposium: A Conversation with Ambassador Danny Danon

Since October 7, 2023, Israel has faced unprecedented challenges in the diplomatic arena. From an international campaign of vilification against Israel that began before the war in Gaza started, to the weaponization of international institutions against the Jewish state, the diplomatic landscape has become yet another theater in Israel’s multi-front war. To address these issues, the Israel Institute is pleased to present a Conversation with Ambassador Danny Danon, Israel’s permanent representative to the United Nations. Ambassador Danon previously served as Minister for Science and Technology, Deputy Defense Minister, and as UN Ambassador from 2015-2020 and again from 2024 to the present. In a conversation with Chancellor Gordon Robertson and Michele Bachmann, Dean of the Robertson School of Government, Ambassador Danon will share his wealth of experience, and answer questions. The livestream link will be provided closer to the event date.

Our event features a keynote address by Os Guinness on our current civilizational moment, a discussion of the Bible and the American concept of liberty with Rabbi Pesach Wolicki, and a conversation between these Jewish and Christian intellectuals about the way forward, moderated by Dr. A.J. The Sound of Music

In this beloved musical, young Maria takes up the challenge of raising the von Trapp children – all seven of them, with their governess-frightening antics. Romance and singing take center stage, with a backdrop of growing political unrest. When the Nazis take over Austria, the family makes a risky escape. Featuring some of our favorite songs like “Do Re Mi,” “So Long, Farewell,” and “Climb Ev’ry Mountain,” The Sound of Music continues to delight audiences with its humor, suspense, and inspiring story. You won’t want to miss it! Music by Richard Rodgers, Lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II Book by Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse Suggested by “The Trapp Family Singers” by Maria Augusta Trapp Directed by Eric Harrell, The Sound of Music is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of The Rodgers & Hammerstein Organization, www.concordtheatricals.com.
