Office of Research and Sponsored Programs

Welcome to the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP) at Regent University, where we are dedicated to fostering Christian leadership in research that transforms the world.

ORSP exists to develop, administer and coordinate policy for sponsored academic programs and funded research at the university. ORSP facilitates faculty and programs securing external funding as a significant new revenue stream for the university. Our policies and procedures are designed to promote such funded program activities in a mission-congruent manner that also prioritizes mentorship, collaboration, and development of faculty, student, and peer co-researchers.

The ORSP provides a range of services to support faculty research, including:

  • Identifying potential grant opportunities
  • Assistance with grant proposal writing and submission
  • Managing grant awards and compliance
  • Facilitating partnerships with industry and other academic institutions
  • Offering workshops and training sessions on research development and funding strategies.

Specially Recognized University Centers (SRUCs) are devised to operate as hubs of excellence, fostering intensive research, outreach programs, and other educational initiatives that significantly contribute to the broader scholarly and community discourse.

Regent University categorizes its research and academic centers into five main areas to foster innovation, collaboration, and excellence in various domains.

Centers focus on interdisciplinary integration, discipline-specific depth, and technological innovation to enhance Regent’s research portfolio.

Centers operate through self-generated funds or university funding, developing clear financial plans and demonstrating stability to ensure their ongoing activities.

Centers collaborate internally within the university and externally to enhance Regent’s reputation and expand its academic footprint, maintaining transparent partnerships and managing shared resources effectively.

Centers engage in community and global outreach, focusing on initiatives that benefit society and foster international collaborations, ensuring effective fund allocation for maximum impact.

Centers follow centralized or nested governance structures to align with the university’s values, ensuring clear, consistent operations and financial integrity.

Applying for SRUC Status

Entities within Regent seeking SRUC status must demonstrate a unique focus, a track record of contributions, and financial planning aligned with the university’s classifications. The application process involves initial proposals, endorsements, reviews by the Office of Academic Affairs, and final approval, granting privileges like funding opportunities and university-wide promotion. See the research handbook for details of the application form.
