Book Discussion: My Ántonia, by Willa Cather

Friday, March 15, 2013
12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Dr. Peter Fraser will lead a discussion of My Ántonia, by Willa Cather. An acknowledged classic of American literature, My Ántonia (1918) is the author's depiction of life in late-nineteenth century Nebraska, where American pioneers and European immigrants carved out a new life on the fertile but unforgiving prairie. The title character, Ántonia Shimerda, is from Bohemia, and the novel includes characters from Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Russia and Austria. The library has several copies, and an attractive web version is available from Americanliterature.com.
