The Reading Specialist endorsement program is designed to meet the growing demand for trained reading specialists by providing competency-based courses that fulfill the requirements for a Virginia Reading Specialist endorsement. In addition to the endorsement track, the program also offers a non-licensure track for educators seeking further training in the field of reading. Our Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) approved Reading Specialist program courses offer a balanced perspective on teaching reading - preparing teachers in the areas of supervision, communication skills, technology, reading assessment, instruction, curriculum and research. Students will apply all of the VDOE competencies and skills required for state licensure while learning practical ways to incorporate their Christian faith into professional practice.
