Michael Ponton, B.S., M.S., Ed.D.
Dr. Ponton, Professor of Education, has published extensively in the field of self-directed learning where his interests include human agency, personal initiative, autonomous learning, and self-efficacy. Before coming to Regent University, Dr. Ponton was an Associate Professor of Higher Education at the University of Mississippi. Prior to full-time life in academe, Dr. Ponton was an aerospace engineer for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration where he received numerous research awards. His recent awards include the following: 2010 (Spring) Regent University Faculty Award for Excellence in Service, 2010 Gary J. Confessore Award for significant contributions to the advancement of learner autonomy, and 2009 AECT Design and Development Outstanding Book Award (co-recipient with Regent Professors Rovai and Baker).View Dr. Ponton's vita>>
