Graduate Divinity Degree Programs


The School of Divinity at Regent University provides a wide array of graduate degree program options to help you learn how to be a pastor, grow in your current ministry or prepare you for theological writing and teaching. Our programs maintain a solid Biblical theology and emphasis on relevant, practical application. Courses are taught on campus or online by seasoned practitioners and some of the nation's leading academic scholars. The school is also accredited nationally by the Association of Theological Schools (ATS) and regionally by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).

Master's Degrees

Master of Arts in Practical Theology (M.A.)
48 Credit Hours | On Campus or Online with Minimal Residency
A professional degree for those who have been called to specialized ministry settings.

Master of Divinity (M.Div.)
72 Credit Hours | On Campus or Online with Minimal Residency
The traditional seminary degree that will prepare you for a professional ministry leadership role.

Master of Theological Studies (M.T.S.)
48 Credit Hours | On Campus or Completely Online | Optional Residency
An academic degree designed to provide a basic understanding of theological disciplines and the opportunity to specialize in an area of concentration.

Doctoral Degrees

Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.)
36 Credit Hours | Contextual Cohort Model | Minimal Residency (1 to 1.5 weeks each semester)
A terminal professional degree that offers high-impact online resources, minimal residential requirement and maximum practical application.

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)
48 Credit Hours* | Contextual Cohort Model | Minimal Residency (2 weeks each semester)
A terminal degree that allows you to remain in your teaching or ministry context by combining cutting-edge online mentoring with intensive, short-term, on-campus residencies.
* 48 credit hours do not include comprehensive exams and dissertation.

Non-Degree Programs

For those looking to go deeper into a particular Bible or ministry topic, or desiring professional development without pursuing a graduate degree, the School of Divinity offers several non-degree opportunities, including programs for spouses, alumni and pastors. Learn more >

Joint Degrees

Strengthen your knowledge, skills and marketability by earning two master's degrees together. The joint degree program may reduce the required credit hours by up to 20 percent for each academic program. The School of Divinity offers the joint degree option within our M.A. or M.Div. programs, coupled with any other participating Regent graduate program.
