Doctoral Project Abstract
The primary purpose of this paper is to compare the model of servant leadership offered by Greenleaf (1977) and embodied in Jesus Christ with the definition of Islamic leadership illustrated in the existing literature as well as through empirical research. Included in this study is a review of the existing literature regarding the definitions, moral bases, and motivational strategies of the servant leadership and Islamic leadership model. This study contains the results of a qualitative research study conducted on the Islamic leadership methods utilized by Muslim leaders in the United States. The fundamental proposition of this paper is that the personal values of servant-leaders distinguish them from other leadership types in the United States, particularly as compared to the Islamic leadership model.
