Appreciative Inquiry in Higher Education as an Effective Communication Tool: A Case Study
Every organization has its own culture, identity, history, and unique combination of individuals who are part of it. Organizations often discuss culture change, shared values, decision making, commitment, and communication within their organization as a part of ongoing operations. Appreciative Inquiry (AI) is an emerging research method that appears effective in facilitating the collection and processing of data and information readily available in work environments that are impacted by change. The purpose of this study was to interview employees across several departments of a private university, using the Appreciative Inquiry process to determine if AI can serve as an effective communication tool in higher education. The results of this study showed that appreciative inquiry can serve as an effective communication tool in higher education.
