The history of the School of Global Leadership & Entrepreneurship dates back to 1981 when the university’s third graduate school was formed—the School of Business. Offering the Master of Business Administration (MBA), the School of Business continued to expand its sphere of influence through the training of Christian business leaders who have assumed strategic positions in corporations, government, education and nonprofit organizations.
In 1995, Regent University launched the Center for Leadership Studies and, in just seven years, it had grown to such prominence that it was formalized as the School of Leadership Studies. The school drew its students from a variety of fields and offered graduate-level leadership degrees including the Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership, Doctor of Strategic Leadership and Doctor Philosophy in Organizational Leadership (Ph.D.).
With the rapid expansion of global organizations and the need to create new businesses, the schools of Business and Leadership were merged in 2006 to form the School of Global Leadership & Entrepreneurship. The new school continues to offer graduate degrees in business and leadership, and all of its degrees include a distinctly global perspective. For a more detailed timeline, visit The History of GLE.
