President Campo attended a dinner and reception with Senator Jeff McWaters and sponsosred by Congressman Scott Rigell to kickoff a new mentorship program called "Guiding Young Men."  This program pairs local leaders with mentees on topics such as finance, entrepreneurship, leadership and more.

The kickoff for the launch of the Coleman Place partnership with Regent University was held this evening at Coleman Place Elementary School.  Several local dignitaries including Mayor Paul Fraim, City Councilwoman Angelia Williams and other school officials joined the festivities with school children and their families.

President Campo greeted members and guests of the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce at the Chamber's Morning Schmooze networking event held in Regent University's Library Atrium.

 

Later that day, President Campo attended the Virginia Beach City Council meeting where the City Council voted in favor of the Centerville Strategic Growth Area plans.

President Campo hosted the annual spring meeting of Regent University's Board of Trustees.  On Friday, March 22, President Campo introduced Regent's founder and chancellor, Dr. Pat Robertson, for a celebration of his 83rd birthday.

As part of Regent's Office of Global Affairs Ambassador Series, President Campo welcomed to the campus His Excellency Elkanah Odembo, ambassador to the United States from the Republic of Kenya.  Dr. Campo also spoke at today's chapel service. 

In addition to the Kenyan Ambassador, Dr. Campo also welcomed to the campus Rev. Louis Muvunyi, an Anglican Bishop from Rwanda.

He also hosted the Presidents' Track and had the honor of introducing Mr. Marco Davis, acting director of the White House Initiative on Excellence for Hispanics, when Mr. Davis spoke to attendees.

President Campo participated in The Virginia Latino Higher Education Network (VALHEN) Encuentro 2012, held this year on the Regent campus. As part of this year's theme, "Latinos in the Arts and Sciences: Past, Present and Future," Dr. Campo presented "Latin American - especially Cuban - Influence in American Popular Music."  He also hosted a President's Summit during which leaders from some of Virginia's top institutions for higher learning discussed a number of issues pertaining to the success of Latino students in the Commonwealth.

President Campo welcomed Dr. Michael Poliakoff, vice president of policy for the American Council of Trustees and Alumni (ACTA), to campus today. Dr. Poliakoff announced that Regent's College of Arts & Sciences received a coveted "A" from ACTA for its general education curricumlum.  Regent is the only university in Virginia and one of fewer than two dozen nationwide to receive an "A: in this year's ACTA report.

President Campo traveled to Florida where he spoke at Calvary Christian Academy's chapel about "A Great University Education in the 21st Century," and both the Saturday and Sunday services at Calvary Chapel Ft. Lauderdale. He also met with a number of Regent alumni who live nearby.

In the afternoon, Dr. Campo hosted the second day of the José Ferrer Film Festival, the last session of which featured a conversation with three of Ferrer's children with Rosemary Clooney.

President Campo hosted Regent's annual Student Leadership Luncheon feturing special guest speaker Adm. Vern Clark.  Student leaders from Regent and other area colleges and universities attend the event held at the Founders Inn.

Later in the evening, Dr. Campo hosted the opening events of the two-day

José Ferrer Film Festival, which honored the president's late uncle, legendary actor José Ferrer.

President Campo toured Cincinnati Christian University today as the guest of its president, Dr. David Faust. Later in the evening he met with Cincinnati-area alumni and other Regent University friends, speaking to them about how Regent is raising up a new generation of Christian leaders.

This morning, President Campo spoke about Christian higher education and a call to personal holiness to the Friday Morning Men's Group, which meets regularly at Spring Branch Community Church in Virginia Beach. 

Mid-morning, President Campo was joined by representatives from ESGR (Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve) as he signed Regent's Statement of Support for Regent employees who are members of the National Guard and Reserves.  The signing ceremony was held on the Regent campus.

President Campo was the keynote speaker at the VALHEN Hispanic College Institute, which was held on the campus of Virginia State University in Petersburg. This pre-college summer program is for Virginia's Hispanic high school students from Stafford, Prince William, Hampton Roads, the Shenandoah Valley and Harrisonburg. VALHEN is the Virginia Latino Higher Education Network.

June 28 - July 11, 2012

President Campo is traveling abroad on university business. While in Strasbourg, France, he will participate in the Regent University School of Law Study Abroad in Strasbourg program by teaching "Introduction/The Human Rights Idea; The Western Individual Rights Tradition." In addition to various scripture references, Dr. Campo will also reference the poem "Adam's Curse" by William Butler Yeats.
